For tens of millions of property owners worldwide, the term Wildland Urban Interface or
WUI is becoming as important as the properties themselves. As global populations grow,
there is greater incursion or interface with wildland vegetations and forests. And with the
ever-increasing rate of wildfires, homeowners must employ every measure to make their
properties as firesafe as possible.
The WUI code adapted from the International Code Council (ICC) applies to the construction, alteration, movement, repair, maintenance and use of any building, structure or premises within a fire vulnerable area. The general objective of the code is to establish minimum regulations consistent with nationally recognized good practice for the safeguarding of life and property.
